TreeTown Tech could not easily view company performance AND had a labor intensive billing process.
I designed a system that allowed the company to view the health of individual projects, the productivity of teams & employees, and streamlined the billing cycle.

TreeTown Tech tracked performance and billing across two disconnected systems, with no single view connecting department-level metrics to project and individual performance. Project managers reconciled the gap manually, which cost hours per cycle and let invoicing errors reach clients.
A centralized, responsive dashboard platform that unifies both systems into one interface, surfacing invoicing data discrepancies in seconds and letting project managers trace performance from department level down to the individual accounts.
The designs needed to be able to be implemented as soon as they were done, meaning that it needed to be feasible and not a dream scenario. I could only work with data that was already available on the back end.
How am I performing?
Employees (and their managers) need to check if they are meeting their expected billable goal. In addition, the page indicates if an employee needs to modify their productivity based on their annual goal.
Employee Week View
How are my projects performing?
PMs need to understand the health and how their project is progressing. Is the project on budget? How many billable hours does the project have remaining?
See Figma prototype of project detail flow below
How is my department performing?
Department Directors wanted to see who on their team was fulfilling their billable target, and if not where was their time being spent on internal work.
Are the invoices we are sending to clients accurate?
The billing team needed to ensure that the time billed for each project was accurate. Accuracy was achieved by validating timesheets from tempo for accurate Jira ticket/epic connections, time amounts, accounts billed to, and adhearing to 15 min increment duration of work logged.
In addition to the billing process itself, there were necessary tasks to be completed by HR for custom software to function properly via connecting employees and projects between Tempo and Sage Innact.

How is the company performing?
Providing a high level view of each category (department, client, project) to understand where adjustments are required or risk should be assessed.
The designs were well received by all stakeholders. Development of the designs is currently underway so that the tool can be integrated into everyday company operations.
The first version of the billing cycle tool decreased the billing cycle duration by 2 hours per project manager.
